BIOGRAPHY

Recording artist and Latin GRAMMY® voting member, Alexandra Dorantes, emerged as a force in the traditional Mexican music scene with her exquisite, authentic powerhouse voice and heartfelt interpretations. At just 19, Alexandra was recognized as a voting member of the most prestigious community of Latin Music Creators, The Latin Recording Academy® (Latin GRAMMYs®), highlighting her significant impact on the music industry.

 

Born in San Marcos, Texas in 2003 to Mexican parents, Alexandra holds dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico. Alexandra is the winner of 13 national, state and local Mariachi vocal competitions. She received the highest scholastic musical achievement from the State of Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL), awarding her 4 Outstanding Performer Vocalist Gold Medals from 2018 to 2021; and was selected as a lead vocalist and violinist of the first Texas State Music Association (TMEA) All-State Mariachi Ensemble

In 2022, Alexandra released her first two singles, La Noche y Tú and Con Las Manos Vacías, followed by her debut album, Ni Contigo, Ni Sin Tí. This work revealed her captivating voice through iconic huapangos from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, breathtaking boleros, and vibrant rancheras. This album was produced by Marco Antonio Dorantes, Veronica Palacios and multi-GRAMMY®︎ Award Winner, Alberto Jimenez Maeda, mixed and mastered by multi-GRAMMY®︎ Award Winner Salvador Sandoval, and recorded by Diego Casillas.

 

In 2024, Alexandra released her new singles Hoy Por Fin and Que El Mundo Ruede, along with her latest album Inolvidable. This album, infused with evocative nostalgia, stands as a testament to her artistic identity, a tribute to Mexico's rich musical heritage, and a heartfelt homage to her family roots. Inolvidable was produced by Marco Antonio Dorantes, Veronica Palacios and multi-GRAMMY®︎ Award Winner, Alberto Jimenez Maeda, mixed and mastered by multi-GRAMMY®︎ Award Winner Salvador Sandoval, and recorded by multi-GRAMMY® & Latin GRAMMY® award-winner Pepe Ortega at Elith Sound Labs/ Estudios Elith in Mexico City.

Alexandra is currently pursuing her passion for Vocal Performance and a minor focused on Arts Management and Administration, at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has been distinguished for her academic excellence with University Honors for six consecutive semesters.

With a bright future ahead, Alexandra continues to ascend in her musical career, creating new productions that honor and celebrate her Mexican heritage. Through her voice and artistry, Alexandra Dorantes firmly establishes herself as one of the foremost promises of traditional Mexican music.
